Ingredients
Gather everything before you start so the cooking flow stays quick and clean.
- 1 head small cauliflower head, cut into bite-sized florets
- 5 tbsp flour
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- 0.5 tsp garlic powder
- 0.5 tsp paprika
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.25 tsp black pepper
- 0.5 cup cold water
- 1 for frying oil for frying
- 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sriracha
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 piece garlic clove, minced
- 1 to taste sesame seeds (optional)
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Cut the cauliflower into small, even florets so they cook at the same speed. Pat them dry with paper towels.
- In a bowl, whisk flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cold water until a thick but pourable batter forms.
- Heat oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, let the excess drip off, then fry in batches for 4–5 minutes until golden and crisp.
- Drain the fried cauliflower on paper towels. Do not stack them, or they will soften.
- In a small pan over low heat, combine sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, sriracha, honey, and minced garlic. Cook for 1–2 minutes until glossy.
- Toss the crispy cauliflower in the sauce just before serving. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if using.
